This past Saturday, it was an epic showdown down in the SEC West as Alabama took on their archrivals, LSU. This Crimson Tide squad has been under the microscope all season long, facing relentless scrutiny. Yet, they just kept on finding ways to win. The doubters were out in full force this past week. Brian Kelly’s Tigers boasted arguably the most potent offense in the nation. No one gave ‘Bama a fighting chance if it turned into a shootout. There’s always that one true believer, though. A true Alabama legend, George Teague, not only had faith in his alma mater but also had a prophecy about who would lead the charge.

George Teague is no stranger to the grand stage, let me tell you. Back in ’92, his defensive squad played a pivotal role in Alabama clinching its 12th national championship. They went up against the mighty Miami Hurricanes. Believe me, they were heavy underdogs. I mean, nobody gave ‘Bama a shot against the nation’s top offense, led by the Heisman-winning quarterback, Gino Toretta. As any true Crimson Tide fan can attest, George Teague was the catalyst in dismantling those Hurricanes. He pulled off that iconic Pick-6 and a play etched in football lore, “The Strip.” Picture this, Teague sprinting down the field, chasing down Miami’s Lamar Thomas, who looked destined for a touchdown. Not so fast my friend! Thomas got denied, as George Teague stripped the football away. That play is a masterpiece you can watch on film or admire in Daniel Moore’s most recognized painting.

On a recent episode of “The Bama Standard” podcast, we had the privilege of hosting none other than the legendary George Teague. We had a panel of some of the brightest minds in the game. They dished out their insights on that colossal Alabama vs. LSU showdown. The real excitement came when it was prediction time, and selecting the standout players of the game. Well, what did George do, you ask? He stepped up and made a bold call, picking the Crimson Tide to come out on top. That wasn’t the end of it, my friends. George Teague, he turned into a bit of a prophet, predicting who would step up as the game-changer in this pivotal matchup.

His choice for Alabama’s player of the game was much maligned quarterback Jalen Milroe. He wasted no time explaining his diagnosis, “I think he has the game we’ve all wanted him to have. He puts it all together now that we need him to put it together.” Not only that, he George Teague went on to predict the reaction of all who would be watching. “We all will go ‘damn’, that guy…we knew he had it. He can throw it. He can run it. I think it shows up. I’m taking him!” Teague exclaimed

George Teague’s prediction, it didn’t just hit the bullseye, it shattered it into a thousand pieces. Jalen Milroe put on an absolute clinic out there, with his arm and those legs of his. What really stood out was the confidence, the swagger, it was something we hadn’t seen before. Gutsy, that’s the word for it. He played like a man possessed. He threw for 219 yards and added a whopping 155 yards on the ground, not to mention 4 touchdowns. That breakout performance propelled Alabama to a jaw-dropping 507 yards of total offense. Milroe out-dueled LSU’s Jayden Daniels on the way to a commanding 42-28 victory. Now, that’s the kind of game that gets you talking, my friends!
